Friday forest school activities

On Friday afternoon we sat and felt the sun on our faces and listened to the birdsong. We did this at the start and end of our session, though at the end we appreciated one of natures gifts and all chewed a delicious mulberry or two whilst reflecting on being outdoors.

We then went to look at our adopted trees to see what they look like at this time of year. We looked carefully at their bark and leaves, noticing textures and colours. There were catkins on the hazels and some berries still on the hawthorns.

After we had looked at our trees, we went to look at the wild flowers around the pond to see what the differences were between now and the summer. Some of us were astounded by the differences. The only colour we could see came from a few red campion that were left and some nettle. The plants look very different at this time of year.
